Tourney Time!

Dog Bowl II is just over a week away!  There has been a lack of Blood Bowl action for the KUBBL lately so having a tournament to tide us over should wet some pallets for this game.  This will be the fourth tournament we will be hosting in Kalamazoo.  The first two were Special "K" Cups and now the Dog Bowl has taken over as our tournament so that it can coincide with the Marmalade Dog.  The Marmalade Dog is a gaming convention put on by the West Michigan Gamers Guild.

Let's look back on the past three tournaments to get some statics and records for Kalamazoo Ultimate Blood Bowl League tournaments.

Winners:
Special "K" Cup I:  Beaux
Special "K" Cup II:  Delevus
Dog Bowl I:  RowdyKatie

Runners Up:
Special "K" Cup I:  Falcon
Special "K" Cup II:  Flyingdingle
Dog Bowl I:  Delevus

Most Touchdowns:
Special "K" Cup I:  Delevus
Special "K" Cup II:  Falcon
Dog Bowl I:  Flyingdingle

Most Casualties:
Special "K" Cup I:  Randroid

Dog Bowl I:  DarkOrk20

Wooden Bowl/Hind Dog (last place):

Special "K" Cup II:  Valdric
Dog Bowl I:  Valdric

We have yet to have a back-to-back champion or a repeater.  We'll see if Rowdykatie can follow-up last years dwarf roll or if Beaux or Delevus can step it up again.

We're looking forward to Dog Bowl II!  Get out here!

Weather decided by top table - 7 on the kick-off table becomes:

Marmalade Dog - The Marmalade Dog runs onto the pitch.  Each coach rolls a d6 plus fame, the team with the highest score calls the Marmalade Dog to attack the opponents, roll a d6 for EACH player on the opposing team.  On a 6, that player falls.  Roll on the player’s armor with the Claw modifier.  If the armor breaks roll on the injury table.  These casualties count!  If a 1 is rolled for any player, the dog is distracted by a Big Moot Sandwich in the crowd and ends the event. On a 2, 3, 4, and 5 nothing happens

Apothecaries work on a 3+ and will result in the player remaining on the pitch in the stunned position.  Apothecaries cannot be used on Star Players

Tournament will be a resurrection style tournament. So any injuries your team suffers will not
carry over to the next game, and any SPPs earned will also be erased.

Final rankings will be based on total tournament points.  Tie breakers will be decided by the TO.

No skills can be given to Star Players

Stunty Bonus: All stunty teams get an agility boost in addition to their tv.  The boost can be given to any player.  Stunty teams are Ogres, Goblins, Halflings, Underworld without Skaven, and Lizardmen without Saurus.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

We here at The Spiked Ball and the KUBBL hope all of you had a very merry Christmas and will be enjoying a safe and happy new year.  We hope to be starting our next season of the KUBBL within the first month of 2014.  What will the new year bring?  Hopefully the dice will start hitting the table shortly.

Crickets

Every year this happens.   A great season of the KUBBL wraps-up and we all take a breath.  At least one time a year that breath becomes a nap.  ZZZzzzz. Shh, don't wake the baby.  We are in full on sleep mode.  It has been almost one month since we have even played a game of Street Bowl, let alone proper Blood Bowl.

What's a Blood Bowl junkie to do with all this down time?  The answer... Tournament prep!  The KUBBL will be invading Jingle Bowl II!  Currently three members are confirmed to be attending and a fourth is a strong possibility.  Jingle Bowl won't be taking place until December 7 but already 36 players have paid!

Jingle Bowl is a holiday themed charity event promoting the spirit of giving.  Help for charity and handing out BB beat downs, what could be better?  The information for the tournament including rules, location, and giveaways can be found here.

If you aren't able to get to the "Murder Mitten" for this event, we here at The Spiked Ball, would like to encourage everyone who is able to do their part and give what they can.  The Blood Bowl committee is a very giving bunch, as there are many charity tournaments throughout the year.  Thank you so much to all the tournaments like the Jingle Bowl for giving us a chance to get some BB and giving in.

Streets of Gold

What the?

KUBBL 6 has not commenced yet so some league members have decided to try their hands at the game of Street Ball.  This is a Blood Bowl variant that incorporates a smaller, walled pitch, and fewer team members.  It is played in an alley and a much higher rate of carnage ensues.  The hoi polloi of the Blood Bowl world look down on the game as low brow, but the pace and action is riveting.

Currently, four KUBBL coaches have decided to lead these ragtag street thugs into battle.  The Browns (SB) (human) are coached by 4 time KUB Bowl Champion Beaux. The reigning KUB Bowl Champion, Randroid, coaches the Hooded Menace (SB) (undead). Furry also has a KUB Bowl on his resume and will lead the Back Alley Jumpers (SB) (slann). Up and coming coach Max is taking the 333rd St. Greenstowne Lads (SB) (orc) to the streets.

Last night was opening night for KUSBL 1.  Three matches were played as the Lads won 2 times. The Jumpers split their games and the Browns lived up to their wasteful monikers and lost both games.  These games fly by and are filled with action.  We look forward to seeing many more.
