Zlurpee Bowl XII was this past weekend in Indianapolis and it was an absolute blast. The tournament overall was won by Flyingdingle (now a two time champion) and had almost 1/3rd of the field playing For The Love Of The Game teams. I didn't keep track of exactly how my games went but here's a quick rundown. I played FTLOTG Skinks.
Roster:
Initech Gangsters
Kroxigor - Peter Gibbons, Break Tackle, Juggernaut
Skinks - Samir Na EE ena jahr, Diving Tackle
Michael Bolton - Side Step
Dom Portwood-Diving Tackle
Drew O'Face - Side Step
Tom Smykowski - Jump-up
Bill Lumbergh - Jump-up
Lawrence
Milton Waddams
The Bob's
Brian Flair
2 Coaches, 2 Cheerleaders, 2 Bloodweiser Babes, apothecary
No re-rolls
Game 1, Jeffro FTLOTG Cheaters, 4 - 1:
This game was totally decided by his pogo-er. He failed almost all of his pick-up attempts. Jeffro had one team re-roll and called upon his pogo-er to use it twice so two of his failed attempts we double failed. That guy had a real aversion to the ball. Skink speed allowed me to get to a lot of lose balls and score three of my TD's on defense. 1-0
Game 2: HT Skaven, 0-3:
HT's Skaven could match my overall speed but had the added bonus of strength. He beat up on my team and after scoring late in the first half I decided to take some chances to score quickly to even up the game. It didnt work and the skaven were able two speed their way to another score. Then I got real desperate and decided to attempt a pass... uh-uh said a line ratypus, I gonna intercept you and were gonna score. He did. 1-1
Game 3: Madrobot Chaos Pact, 0-2?:
I really don't recall much from this game, as indicated by the fact I don't truly know how many TD's he had. By no means does that mean it wasn't fun. I enjoyed all the games I had at Zlurpee but this one may have been the most fun. Madrobot is a funny guy (I know I'm not the first to say that), so, yeah getting beat was whatever. I do remember that he has a tackle piece which kicked my butt. 1-2
Game 4: ThreeofSwords FTLOTG Cheaters, 1-0?:
Again I don't remember the score. I played ThreeofSwords and I think this basic roster at Chaos Cup 15. His bomber did all kinds of damage to me that game and this time I felt a repeat coming on when I saw he was my opponent again. The most memorable part of this game for me was one of his loonies. One chainsaw kicked back three time and each time he rolled a 3, so nothing happened. It was very nice to not have those chainsaws come my way. Oh yeah and the ref turned down two out of three bribes. I've never met a Blood Bowl ref so adverse to money. 2-2
Game 5: Solarflare Chaos Pact, 1-1:
So having the dodge re-roll on almost all my players worked out very well. I failed my first dodge of the game, after that, I succeeded (with the re-roll) probably 40+ times. They kicked to me to start the game and I was able to score on my third turn. I didn't even come close to possessing it for the rest of the game. The dark elf decided to fail a three plus dodge on the last turn of the first half and get into the endzone on the final turn of the game. 2-2-1
Game 6, FTLOTG Finals: Shoveler FTLOTG Hobgoblins, 1-1:
Holy Cow, Hobgoblins are so cheap he was able to buy a ton of them, three re-rolls, coaches and cheerleaders, multiple fan factor and a babe! I was quite envious of all he had. I received the opening kick and decided to make myself work quite hard for my score by doing a lot of failing. Double skulling with my Krox, failing dodges and failing a sure hands pick up. Fun, fun. I did finally score and held him just short of the endzone and getting the tie before half time. In the second half attrition started to take hold and he marched down for a by-the-book cage touchdown. When he kicked back to me I had three turns to try to score. My setup went well considering my numbers disadvantage but my second turn ended in quick failure. Shoveler popped the ball out quite easily but made an extraordinary effort to get the ball way down the pitch. My turn eight called for a miracle if I was going to score. I needed to perform three 3+ dodges to get a one die hit on the ball carrier which was a defender down. Then the ball scattered into an opening. I needed a 3+ dodge, a 3+ pick up two more 3+ dodges and 2 go-for-its to make a long pass that required a 6. The ball then sailed through the air with amazing accuracy. I needed a 3+ to catch the ball and i could waltz into the enzone for the win and the FTLOTG Championship. The die rolled out of my hand and under an open case lid. My opponent moved the case lid and... revealed a 1. I dropped the ball and a chance for glory. The tie gave Shoveler the FTLOTG Title and he deserved it.
Well, this didn't turn out as quick as I thought...
Anyway, a huge thanks goes out to Xtreme and any-and-all of his helpers! What a great time!

Player Spotlight - Danger Dogl
From the murky sludge of his Blackwater home emerges one of the KUBBL's finest players of all time. He began his journey with the Blackwater Butchers as a lowly skink. But little did anyone know he would develop into a powerhouse stunty scorer. Coach Thorn trust his ball handling and ability to escape to get him out of any situation. The Butchers lean heavily on this player to help them defeat all comers. The Butchers may be taking a break now, but don't be surprised to see Coach Thorn and Danger Dogl leading them back onto the KUBBL pitches to dominate once again.
Info -
Danger Dogl, Skink
Stats: 8 MA, 3 ST, 4 AG, 7 AV

CHAMPIONS CROWNED!
The KUBBL crowned their champion for KUBBL 4! It is the lizardmen of the Blackwater Butchers!
The Butcher are saying goodbye to their long time coach, Thorn. He will be taking over the reins of the Doomsville Robots.
The 11th championship game started out in good
weather and the first half was hotly contested.
The Butchers received the opening kick and spent all eight turns winding
their way down the pitch. The Dwellers
did all they could to stop the lizards, knocking the ball free more than
once. In the end of the half the Butchers
took the lead. They went into the half
at 1-0.
The second half saw the Butchers put their strength to
use. The Dweller began flying off the
pitch and the stand firm Saurus kept the speed and agility of the rats at bay. To make matters worse for the rats, the skies
opened up on them.
The player of the game was Sharptooth. He literally threw his weight around earning
four casualties in the final. DangerDogl was again an offensive force for the Butchers too.
Check-out the box score here.

Championship Monday!
KUBBL 4
Today's the day! The powerhouse Blackwater Butchers will be hosting the upstart Swamp Dwellers. In the battle for the KUB Bowl it will be the strength of the lizards against the speed of the rats.
The Butchers will look to the blitzing prowess of casualty leader, Sharptooth to slowdown scoring leader, Unleaded. The twist is the new found speed of Diesel may through a curveball at the boys from Blackwater. But can the Dwellers keep up with the attrition minded Butchers with only 11 total players.
These two teams have yet to play each other so neither can draw on past experience. Will this be KUBBL Title three for coach Thorn (Pondscum Chompers, Maynooth Gits) or the first for Chris N.?

KUBBL 4 – Season Wrap-up
KUBBL 4 – Season Wrap-up
The season opened with a twelve team league. Two divisions of 6 set forth to do battle on
the KUBBL pitch. The Block Division was
home to the six teams with the highest team value while the Dodge Division
housed the lowest 6 team values.
Week 1 – 5 went relativey smoothly but some personal issues
caused 5 of the 12 teams not to be able to complete their seasons. The 7 were able to complete the seven game schedules
and the top four went on to the KUBBL 4 Playoffs. The bottom 3 went into a post-season round
robin tournament.
The Block Division was won by The HIV with a record of 6
wins and 1 tie. The Dodge Division was
won by The GrymmLurke Lads with a record of 5 wins, 1 tie, and 1 Loss. Each league had one wildcard representative
with the Blackwater Butchers (5-1-1) representing Block and the Swamp Dwellers
(5-2) representing Dodge.
The HIV – The Nurgle had a great showing in this season’s
KUBBL. They were The Wall Award winners
allowing only 3 regular season touchdowns.
They were coached by Beaux who had won the previous 3 KUBBL seasons with
3 different teams. Unfortunately for The
HIV it looks as though their coach will be moving on in KUBBL 5.
The GrymmLurke Lads – The Dark Elves had a whale of a
season. Their high agility combined with
some timely heavy hitting made them the toast of the Dodge Division. The Lads had no standout players but were
extremely versatile and well balanced.
This was only coach Max’s second season but his second post season appearance.
Blackwater Butchers – The Lizardmen didn’t earn the top seed
in their division but used their combination of power and speed to defeat the
Lads to earn a spot in the KUB Bowl. The
teamed earned their third Juggernaut Banner in a row! They’ve took home second and third places but
look to win the championship for their long time coach, Thorn.
Swamp Dwellers – The newest Skaven team to “excel” in the
KUBBL is the other team in this season’s KUB Bowl. The rats were the number one offensive team this
season with 21 touchdowns which gave then KUBBL 4’s Scoring Machine
banner. “Fueled” by two one turn scoring
threats, the Dweller’s hope to run away with the title.
The date for the KUB Bowl is TBD.

The Stars are Out
Every team has their star but every league has it's superstars! The KUBBL is no exception. Scoring, ball handling, and hitting are all important aspects of this great game.
A few players have separated themselves from the rest with their standout offensive ability.
Unleaded - He leads the league in scoring which is not surprising considering the speed of this player. He scored 14 regular season touchdowns and scored all 3 touchdowns for the Swamp Dwellers in their semi-final win against The HIV.
Danger Dogl - He was called on to scored 7 times in KUBBL 4 not including 2 goals against The GrymmLurke Lads in the semi-finals. He has scored 29 times in his allustrious career for the Blackwater Butchers.
Teams need enforcers and one player stood-out above the rest in KUBBL 4.
Sharptooth - 11 Regular season Casualties led the league by three.
All of these players will be putting their skills to use in the KUBBL 4 Championship!

Road to the KUB Bowl
On Monday, June 24th two teams will collide for
the championship of KUBBL 4. After a
seven game seasons, four teams stood above the rest and earned the right to
challenge for the KUB Bowl.
The Block Division was won by The HIV (Nurgle) with 6 wins,
0 losses, and 1 tie. The Dodge Division
was won by The GrymmLurke Lads (Dark Elf) with 5 wins, 1 loss, and 1 tie. The two wildcard spots were won by the
Blackwater Butchers (Lizardmen, 5-1-1) and the Swamp Dwellers (Skaven, 5-2-0).
The HIV took the number 1 seed and welcomed the 4 seed
Dwellers to their pit of pestilence. Gutter
Runner, Unleaded, was the offensive star of the game for the Dwellers. He scored all three Dweller touchdowns,
leading the Skaven to a one score victory on the road against The HIV.
The number 2 seeded GrymmLurke Lads played host to the 3
seed, Blackwater Butchers. The Lads were
able to get on the board first but the Butchers scored the final two touchdowns
of the game to win 2 to 1. Star Skink,
Danger Dogl, used his incredible strength and agility to will his team to
victory.
The top two seeds are out and the championship will be
settled by the wildcards. Will coach
Thorn win his 3rd title or will Chris N. win his 1st? We shall see.
Better Late Than Never...
Kalamazoo Ultimate Blood Bowl League (KUBBL) is about to wrap-up KUBBL 4 (it's 11th completed season). The championship match is set for June 24th and will pit the Lizardmen of the Blackwater Butchers against the Skaven of the Swamp Dwellers. Coach Thorn of the Butchers is going for his 3rd title while coach Chris N will be attempting to win his 1st ever KUBBL Championship.
